theSpaceUK have announced more shows in their Edinburgh Fringe programme.

Fringe First winners Mulberry Theatre (The Unravelling) will return with two shows. O Brave New World, That Has Such People In’t! follows a young girl who handles her isolation through imagination, while One House on Brick Lane uses oral histories and lived experiences to tell the story of a Bangladeshi family facing eviction following fascist protests.

Following the success of the LMA x theSpaceUK Graduate Scheme, the first LMA/theSpaceUK season will showcase the next generation of theatre makers. The season includes five productions: The Woman in the Box, The Girls Who Made Us, Knot at the Moment, Scally-wankers and Bite.

Historical theatre is a key theme in this year’s programme. Darren Katz’s Against the Grain transports the audience back to the Siege of Leningrad to explore moral conflict. Jessies will chart queer life across fifteen years, and Operation Market Garden is a raw account of survival and captivity based on real wartime diaries.

In terms of musicals, The Barden Party bring Heracles: Of Men and Beasts, a folk musical that reimagines Greek mythology. LUU Musical Theatre will also explore 1960s pop culture in BeetleMania. Other forms of musical storytelling includes Maiden Mother Moan’s sapphic coming-of-age story Trains in the Night, Laura Sofia Productions’ song-cycle In Pieces, and An Tinne, a blend of Scottish history and global migration told through song.

There are lots of shows for children, including CinderGorilla: The Musical and a retelling of The Hobbit. Roy Allaway will also bring their show Improv Banana – Kids Comedy to the Fringe, where children are invited to take part in a lively introduction to improv.
